Our broad portfolio of ion chromatography (IC) columns offers an array of features from small particle sizes to high capacity capabilities, to the ability to accommodate dual eluent generators and be tracked by our consumables device monitor. The majority of our IC columns are available for convenient online purchase.


Consumables tracking

When installed in a Thermo Scientific Dionex Integrion HPIC System or Thermo Scientific Dionex ICS-6000 HPIC System, columns with an RFID tag can be tracked by the user. When the column is placed in the system for the first time, the current date and time is written to the tag, so the instrument controller can determine exactly how long the column has been in use. Additionally, the instrument controller writes key performance metrics to the tag as they are collected, including key metric tallies, eluent types, and number of injections. The tag also helps the system detect whether there is a size mismatch (such as combining 2mm and 4mm consumables) or chemistry mismatches, such as anion and cation mismatches.

Small particle sizes available

Several of our ion exchange columns are available packed with 4µm resin particles. This smaller particle size provides better resolution, faster run time, and more reliable results. The length of the column can be optimized for the desired results. Shorter columns can be used at higher flow rates to increase productivity without sacrificing performance, while longer columns can be used for higher resolution separations of complex sample matrices. These options allow you to optimize resolution and throughput for your application.

High capacity

Our highly porous column resins offer more surface area per particle, providing more opportunity for analytes to bind to the resin surface. This high capacity enables the columns to handle high analyte concentrations, provide good resolution of weakly retained ions, enable analysis of high-ionic-strength samples, and load a larger sample volume without overloading and peak broadening.

Dual Eluent Generation Cartridge (EGC) compatibility

Our IC column portfolio includes columns for our Thermo Scientific Dionex ICS-6000 HPIC System that support running the system in Dual EGC mode. This mode uses electrolytic eluent generation technology to create highly reproducible, accurate KOH/KMSA eluent gradients that resolve mono-, di- and oligosaccharides and sialic acids.
