OmpX is a protein that is found in the outer membrane of gram-negative bacteria, including Escherichia coli. It belongs to the family of outer membrane porins, which are involved in the transport of small molecules across the bacterial outer membrane. OmpX has been shown to play a role in the virulence of E. coli by contributing to bacterial resistance to host immune responses.
