Plastic and reconstructive surgery. Global open 2019 - Fig. 3. Representative images of devices immunofluorescently stained for cultured bacteria and host proteins. A, Group B streptococcus (GBS) was cultured from the Biocell-textured silicone breast implant of patient 9, which was clinically normal. GBS was detected via immunofluorescence staining and it co-localized with the deposited host protein fibrinogen (Fg). Staphylococcus epidermidis (SE) was culture... Product Specific Information

The antibody reacts with several Staphylococcus strains using ELISA. It does not react with several members of the Enterobacteriaceae and not with S. Aureus. It is not tested for IHC-P. The epitope is not determined, but it might be a component of the cell wall. The antibody recognizes whole bacteria.

          Target Information

Although pathogenic bacteria constitute only a small portion of bacterial species, infectious diseases caused by pathogenic bacteria affect millions of people worldwide. Diarrheal diseases, many of which are bacterial, are the second leading cause of death worldwide, claiming an estimated 5 million people annually. Furthermore, an estimated 3 million people die of tuberculosis annually, 500,000 people die of pertussis, and 25,000 die of typhoid.
