OPA1-03121 detects mu opioid receptor from rat tissues. This antibody is expected to cross-react with mouse and human due to sequence homology.
OPA1-03121 has been successfully used in western blotting procedures. This antibody efficiently precipitates an ~70 kDa protein representing the mu opioid receptor. Positive control of rat brain lysate suggested.
The OPA1-03121 immunogen is a synthetic peptide derived from an internal region of µ-Opioid receptor.
The OPRM1 gene encodes the mu opioid receptor, which is the primary site of action for the most commonly used opioids, including morphine, heroin, fentanyl, and methadone. It is also the primary receptor for endogenous opioid peptides beta-endorphin and the enkephalins. The OPRM1 receptor is a membrane of the G protein-coupled receptor family. There are at least 3 types of opioid receptors, mu, kappa, and delta, each with a distinct pharmacologic profile.
