DcTRAILR2, also known as decoy receptor TRAIL receptor 2 (DcR2), is encoded by the TNFRSF10D gene and is part of the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily. This receptor is characterized by its ability to bind to the TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) without inducing apoptosis, thereby serving as a decoy receptor. DcTRAILR2 plays a crucial role in regulating apoptosis by inhibiting TRAIL-mediated signaling pathways that lead to cell death. Expressed in various tissues, it contributes to immune modulation by protecting cells from apoptosis, which is particularly relevant in cancer biology where it can influence tumor cell survival and resistance to apoptosis-based therapies. DcTRAILR2's role in apoptosis regulation makes it significant in pathological conditions involving abnormal cell proliferation and survival, such as cancer and autoimmune diseases. Research efforts continue to explore the therapeutic potentials of targeting TRAIL receptors to enhance the efficacy of cancer treatments and to understand their broader implications in immune regulation.
