Specificity: Human CCDC90B
CCDC90B (Coiled-Coil Domain-Containing 90B), also known as MCUR1 (Mitochondrial Calcium Uniporter Regulator 1), is a gene located on chromosome 16p13.3 that encodes a protein involved in mitochondrial function. MCUR1 is a critical component of the mitochondrial calcium uniporter complex, which plays a vital role in regulating mitochondrial calcium uptake. Calcium uptake by mitochondria is essential for cellular metabolism, energy production, and apoptosis. MCUR1 interacts with other components of the uniporter complex to modulate the entry of calcium into the mitochondrial matrix, thereby influencing mitochondrial bioenergetics and reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation.
